Company underlines quality leadership
With its new performance guarantee for solar power modules SolarWorld AG
again underlines the reliability and quality of its products. As the first
company in the industry SolarWorld AG gives a linear performance guarantee
for 25 years on all solar power modules installed as of 2010. With this
groundbreaking innovation SolarWorld provides clearly better security for
the investments of its customers into their solar power plants.
'We have deliberately invested for years in our Research & Development
capacities so as to be able to consistently optimize our products',
Dipl.-Ing. Frank H. Asbeck, Chairman and CEO of SolarWorld AG,
characterizes the strategy of the company. 'We know what our products can
do and pass on this security to our customers by way of our linear
performance guarantee.' In this context the group has extended the warranty
for its modules from two to five years.
The quality modules of SolarWorld, test winners in the current long-term
test by the trade magazine Photon, are up to considerable strains and
stresses. For example in agriculture where the solar power modules on sheds
and stables are often exposed to ammonia emissions. All materials used,
especially the backing film, cables, plugs and silicones have proven their
ammonia resistance in an ageing test by the Swiss test institute SGS. With
the SGS certificate SolarWorld AG has supplemented the already existing
quality hallmarks for its modules like for example TÃV, VDE and UL.
Linear Performance Guarantee
The usual market guarantees give the customer a staggered performance
promise, for example 90 per cent of the lower nominal output for the first
ten years and then 80 per cent from year eleven onwards. The new linear
performance guarantee by SolarWorld says that the actual performance of the
solar power module in the first year of operation amounts to at least 97
per cent of the nominal output and from the second year of operation does
not decline by more than 0.7 per cent of the nominal output. Thus, after 25
years of operation the solar power module still has an actual performance
of at least 80.2 per cent of the nominal output. The performance guarantee
depends on the service certificate valid at the time of purchase.
