WorldWinner's New Take on PopCap's Plants vs. Zombies Has Players Using Their Brains

Skill-Based Cash Tournament Version of 2009 Game of the Year Now Available at WorldWinner

NEWTON, MA--(Marketwire - April 7, 2010) -  There's a shadow making its way across neighborhoods and computer screens leaving players with just one mode of defense this Spring -- an arsenal of zombie-zapping plants. Today, WorldWinner (www.worldwinner.com), a subsidiary of GSN and provider of online game competitions, released a new, skill-based version of PopCap Games' acclaimed strategy puzzler Plants vs. Zombies. Gamers everywhere can now test their zombie-stopping skills in a cash tournament version of the game. The faster zombies are defeated, the higher the score. The higher the score, the greater the opportunity for players to win a piece of the more than $250,000 awarded daily on WorldWinner.com.

"Since PopCap's release of Plants vs. Zombies in May 2009, we've watched the zombie craze take hold," said Peter Blacklow, president of WorldWinner and EVP of GSN Digital. "Delivering a fast paced competition version to a massive fan base is very exciting; we thrive on taking the game experience to the next level."

WorldWinner's version of the game is similar to PopCap's Bejeweled Blitz adaptation of its flagship franchise, in that it asks players to accomplish more in a shorter period of time. Players will have to think fast and plant faster to stem a zombie attack, save their homes and earn the points to beat their player competition. The major features of the game mirror the Adventure mode of the original game, as players use peashooters, wall-nuts, cherry bombs and more in an effort to slow down, confuse, weaken and "mulchify" different types of zombies before they reach the front door.

"With the recent addition of both WorldWinner's cash gaming adaptation and our new iPhone and iPad adaptation, Plants vs. Zombies is now available through a wide variety of platforms, providing players with several ways to play," said Dennis Ryan, Executive Vice President of Worldwide Publishing at PopCap. "We know many people play the game in a competitive mindset, and WorldWinner's offering of Plants vs. Zombies gives fans the first real opportunity to actually compete directly with one another."

WorldWinner's new cash gaming adaptation of Plants vs. Zombies is now available at www.worldwinner.com and www.gsn.com, as well as through WorldWinner's partner sites, including AOL Games, MSN Games and Pogo.com.
