PlantCML(R) Recognizes Telecommunications Professionals

April 11 Through 17 Is National Public Safety Telecommunicators' Week

TEMECULA, CA--(Marketwire - April 12, 2010) -  At PlantCML, an EADS North America company, this is the week we put a special focus on the many telecommunications professionals across the country who make our lives safer. According to NENA, the National Emergency Number Association, an estimated 240 million calls are made to 9-1-1 each year in the United States. The Federal Communications Commission states that one-third of those are wireless calls; and in many communities, half or more of all 9-1-1 calls come from wireless callers. In all, 99 percent of the US population is served by 9-1-1 (NENA).

During this week, we recognize the "first" first responder, public safety telecommunicators, for their contributions towards the safety and security of communities around the world. Everyday, millions of people depend on the skill, expertise and commitment of these professionals.

"Telecommunicators serve as the front line in ensuring the public's safety," said Dave Rutan, chief executive officer, PlantCML. "Their efforts too often go unnoticed, yet when lives are on the line, we all rely on their quick actions. This week is the ideal time to reflect on how much we, the general public, as well as those of us in the industry, owe this skilled and critically important group."

National Public Safety Telecommunicators' Week enhances public awareness and promotes the much needed education regarding important public safety issues and legislation by placing national attention on the seemingly nameless and faceless individuals who help save countless lives by responding to emergency calls, dispatching emergency professionals and equipment and providing moral support to citizens in distress.
