ANDOVER, MA--(Marketwire - April 19, 2010) - Enterasys, the network infrastructure and security division of Siemens Enterprise Communications GmbH & Co KG, today announced new 802.11n access points and automation features that redefine low cost/high functionality, enterprise-class wireless devices. As part of its continued enhancement of the network edge, including the recently announced B5 and C5 stackable switches, the new Enterasys Wireless (also known as HiPath Wireless) access points provide cost-effective, energy efficient, and easily deployed 802.11n upgrade solutions. With the introduction of these new access points, Enterasys has enhanced its leading integrated wired/wireless solution, enabling two network infrastructures to be managed and secured as a single entity, further simplifying network management and providing additional operational cost savings.
Automated policy management provides the same superior user experience whether the user attaches via a wired or wireless connection, which reduces network management complexities and improves network security. The new intelligent access points enhance the WLAN component of the integrated wired/wireless network and align WLAN operations with enterprise needs by providing 802.11a/b/g/n capabilities for both distributed and standalone network deployments.

With the release of Enterasys' new wireless offerings, the company has dramatically lowered the cost of upgrading the WLAN to encompass all of the benefits of 802.11n while eliminating unnecessary switch and infrastructure replacement costs. Enterasys provides the easiest migration path for customers to move to 802.11n technology, streamlining the installation process with specialized mounting hardware that enables the new access points to be quickly affixed to existing mounting brackets from other wireless vendors. The solution also significantly reduces installation and start-up time by automatically discovering, configuring and optimizing the new access points without cumbersome manual steps. Benefiting from a comprehensive lifetime warranty that protects their investment, Enterasys customers can save $140,000 in maintenance fees over the life of the equipment compared to a competing 200 access point deployment.
