BURLINGTON, MA--(Marketwire - June 2, 2010) - EPB of Chattanooga executive vice president and chief operating officer David Wade will be a featured speaker at KEMA's third annual Utility of the Future Leadership Forum, "Strategic Choices - Striking Equilibrium." Wade will join energy and utility industry CEOs in sharing their insights on strategy and challenges to engage customers and achieve a sustainable energy supply at the KEMA event, being held June 23 - 25, 2010 at The Four Seasons, Washington, D.C.
Wade will be participating on the Utility of the Future forum panel examining what's next in the utility-customer relationship and balancing choices to extract value. EPB of Chattanooga is one of the largest municipal power distributors in the country, serving more than 168,000 homes and businesses in a 600-square mile area. EPB is currently building a 100% fiber optic communication system that will be the backbone for their Smart Grid. EPB was recently awarded $111.5 million in federal stimulus funding from the Department of Energy to expedite their Smart Grid implementation. Wade leads the company's effort to build Chattanooga's Smart Grid, one of the most sophisticated smart electric distribution systems in the country.
