Dutch Service Provider Opts for All-Juniper Data Center to Maximize Reliability, Performance & Security

Junos(R)-Based Network Drives Lower OPEX by 20 Percent

SUNNYVALE, CA--(Marketwire - September 29, 2010) -  Juniper Networks® (NYSE: JNPR) today announced that IP2 Internet, a Dutch business Internet Service Provider, has deployed an all Juniper Networks infrastructure to help develop its growing business for the long term. IP2 Internet's new data center infrastructure comprises routers, switches and security appliances that run on Junos® OS, Juniper's single operating system, helping to simplify the network fabric and drive down both capital expenses (CAPEX) and operational expenses (OPEX).

IP2 Internet already estimates that it has reduced OPEX by as much as 20 percent as a result of the Juniper deployment. Juniper Networks M Series Multiservice Edge Routers, Juniper Networks EX Series Ethernet Switches and Juniper Networks SRX Series Services Gateways create a platform from which IP2 Internet offers data-intensive services including hosting, storage, Internet access and co-location.

"The network is our business; it is our differentiator and the reason for our success over the past decade. Rapid growth in subscriber numbers and increased expectations of service scope had begun to put our existing infrastructure under strain, so we decided to address the issue in the early stages," said Jan Baggen, managing director at IP2 Internet. "Juniper's data center solution allows us to rapidly scale subscriber numbers and offer rich, revenue-generating services without affecting performance and reliability. The new infrastructure also has long-term flexibility and headroom, enabling us to plan for sustained growth and development with complete confidence."

"The performance, service functionality and security levels now required by today's business users were unheard of just five years ago -- and demand will continue to rise," said Mike Marcellin, vice president, product marketing, Infrastructure Products and Junos Ready Software, Juniper Networks. "To remain competitive, service providers need to change their business model, enabling them to extract more business value from the network while driving down their own costs. IP2 Internet has clearly grasped how well Juniper's new network philosophy applies to its business requirements."

By running Junos across its routing, switching and security deployment as a single network operating system, IP2 has a centralized architecture to reduce cost and complexity in the network. The M Series Multiservice Edge Routers deliver high port-density routing and switching for service providers and enterprises. The EX Series Ethernet Switches feature Virtual Chassis fabric technology designed to enable up to 10 interconnected EX4200 switches to operate as a single, logical system. Virtual Chassis fabric technology reduces the number of managed devices in a network and lowers capital and operating expenses, providing the highest levels of availability for demanding converged data, voice and video environments and delivering the most reliable platform for unifying enterprise communications. The SRX Series Services Gateways provide the essential capabilities necessary to connect, secure, and manage enterprise and service provider networks.

Juniper's partner for the IP2 design, deployment and maintenance is Infradata, a leading Dutch Network Integrator supplying, implementing and maintaining next-generation networks for service providers and network operators.
