American Internet Services (AIS) Unveils Enterprise High Availability (e-HA) Solution for Optimizing Performance of Mission Critical Apps and Meeting Disaster Recovery/Business Continuity Needs

Part of the AIS Portfolio of Enterprise Managed Services (EMS), e-HA Augments Solutions Already Deployed by AIS Data Center Clients

SAN DIEGO, CA--(Marketwire - December 16, 2010) - American Internet Services (AIS), a leading provider of enterprise-class data center and connectivity services in the western United States, today unveiled its family of Enterprise High Availability (e-HA) services. An addition to the AIS portfolio of Enterprise Managed Services (EMS), e-HA leverages key components in the AIS DR/BC Toolbox and adds state-of-the-art, local and global load balancing technology, to provide performance optimization of mission critical applications and fulfill Disaster Recovery/Business Continuity requirements.

"AIS Enterprise Managed Services are intended to augment the solutions already deployed by our colocation customers -- allowing them to take advantage of the world-class capabilities we have to make their environment even more efficient," said Tim Caulfield, chief executive officer at AIS. "What's especially appealing about the e-HA offering is the value it provides: the client gets a customized solution that's been tailored by our ProServices team, utilizing the latest high-availability technology and proven best practices, at a price that fits within their budget."

Highlights of AIS Enterprise High Availability (e-HA) service

The basic components of the e-HA service are:

  • State-of-the-art local and global load balancing technology
  • High-performance private network between data centers
  • Expert engineering and support staff
  • Extensive transit and peering network
  • Fully monitored and managed service

The AIS ProServices team has extensive experience in the areas of networking and high-availability infrastructure. Plus, they have intimate knowledge of load-balancing technologies used at local and global scale.

The AIS private optical network provides high-performance, secure connectivity between all of our data centers, allowing real-time data replication and service delivery from multiple points on the Internet. The network consists of OC-192 (10Gbps) optical links from multiple providers and in some cases incorporates dark fiber links to meet the client's operational requirements.

Enterprise redundancy extends to the AIS transit and private peering connections. AIS manages over 40Gbps of transit and peering across four data centers.

Monitoring is provided by the AIS Operation and Control Center (OCC), which is manned 24x7x365, ensuring that a team of highly skilled professionals is always available to provide personalized support and to quickly troubleshoot/fix any technical issues that are encountered. The AIS commitment to using a people based approach is a key differentiator.

The e-HA Portfolio of Solutions:

The AIS e-HA portfolio of solutions ranges from a basic service, that covers a single host record (website URL), to a bundle that can handle 10 host records, to a global-local package that includes the AIS Integrated Local and Global load balancing services. Pricing consists of a setup fee and a monthly service fee.

"e-HA puts the latest service continuity and load balancing technology in the hands of our clients, without the upfront investment in hardware or technical expertise," said Steve Wallace, director of network operations for AIS. "Furthermore, e-HA is just one of a number of comprehensive solutions under the Enterprise Managed Services umbrella. Other offerings with similar benefits will be unveiled in 2011."
