WOBURN, MA--(Marketwire - Apr 26, 2011) - Acquia, the enterprise guide to Drupal, today announced a record first quarter, increasing revenue 300% as compared to the first quarter of 2010, and more than 20% over the previous quarter. Enterprise adoption of the Drupal social publishing platform and Acquia's cloud hosting has fueled the rapid expansion of Acquia's business.

In the first quarter 2011, Acquia achievements include:

  • With more than 700 customers and Drupal powering 2% of all the world's websites, Acquia gained new customers including Al Jazeera, World Economic Forum, Sierra Club, DISA (Defense Information Systems Agency), National Audubon Society, and Sound on Sound amongst others this quarter.

  • In response to increasing customer demand, continued to hire aggressively around the globe, growing from 66 employees in 2010 to 109 employees today.

  • Opened European office in Oxford, UK and continued to expand ahead of expectations.

  • Introduced new Acquia Managed Cloud packaging options making its high performance, Drupal-optimized environment easy to purchase and deploy for both independent developers and large enterprises. • Introduced Acquia Dev Cloud, a self-service, cloud offering targeted at professional developers running one or more sites on a single server instance.

  • Announced the general availability of Drupal Gardens 1.0 with new capabilities and pricing plans. The powerful new Views functionality makes Drupal Gardens the most robust web solution to rapidly assemble and deploy extraordinary social sites. With more than 40,000 sites created in the last year, Drupal Gardens is the fastest way to build content-rich, dynamic sites.

  • Enhanced the Acquia Network with a dramatic new user experience, a content rich knowledgebase -- the Acquia Library -- with more than 500 articles, and valuable array of new services from Acquia partners to extend and manage Drupal websites. In addition, the company introduced a draft API specification to provide programmatic access to integrate new services into the Acquia Network.
