Young Survival Coalition Opens Rider Registration for the Eighth Annual YSC Tour de Pink


Brian Walton, Former Professional Cyclist and Olympic Medalist to Lead the Tour Supporting Young Breast Cancer Survivors

NEW YORK, May 24, 2011 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Former professional cyclist and Olympic medalist Brian Walton will join hundreds of cyclists this fall riding the eighth annual YSC Tour de Pink – the premier bike tour for breast cancer awareness benefiting Young Survival Coalition – the leading global organization dedicated to the critical issues unique to young women diagnosed with breast cancer.

Taking place September 23-25, the eighth annual YSC Tour de Pink is a journey participants will never forget. Touted as the ride "from the Revolutionary War to the Jersey Shore," the tour features a scenic, rolling course with technical descents, breathtaking views, full support including rest stops, SAG vans and mechanics. The three-day tour begins in Morristown, NJ, stops in Princeton, NJ and ends on the beach in Long Branch, NJ. The Tour also features a one-day ride starting and finishing in Princeton, NJ and traversing through the rolling hills of Bucks County, PA. One-day riders can choose between a full century (100 miles) or metric century (62 miles) ride. Registration is now open at www.ysctourdepink.org.

Brian Walton has one of the most illustrious histories in professional cycling. Walton is a 12-year veteran professional, 10-time Canadian National Champion and a three-time Olympian winning the Silver Medal in the 1996 Olympics. Walton won Gold Medals at the Pan American Games on three occasions and has raced numerous times in Philadelphia's former US Pro Championships, placing in the top four three times and finishing second twice. Walton now serves as President of Cadence Cycling and Multisport Centers in Philadelphia – a nationally-renowned training and retail center. This will be his first time participating in the YSC Tour de Pink.

Young Survival Coalition (YSC) was founded in 1998 by three young women with breast cancer. With almost 30 affiliates across the United States, YSC offers resources, connections and outreach so women feel supported, empowered and hopeful knowing that they are not alone.
