Jack Bennett, Connecticut Department of Public Health, Division of Laboratory Services, Awarded Emerging Leader Award by Association of Public Health Laboratories


OMAHA, NE--(Marketwire - Jun 7, 2011) - The Association of Public Health Laboratories (APHL) presented Jack Bennett, Environmental Chemistry Section Chief at the Connecticut Department of Public Health, Division of Laboratory Services, with APHL's 2011 Emerging Leader Award. The award was presented at a ceremony on Tuesday, June 7, during APHL's Annual Meeting and 5th State Environmental Laboratory Conference in Omaha, Nebraska.

APHL's Emerging Leader Award is presented annually to an individual whose leadership has been instrumental in advancing laboratory science, practice, management or policy within the first five to ten years of his or her career.

Bennett has assumed a national leadership role in developing the US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Region 1 Regional Laboratory Response Plan and in identifying priorities for EPA's Water Laboratory Alliance. At the state level, Bennett has served on agency-wide task forces and committees addressing ethics, policy and workforce development. He also chairs APHL's Environmental Laboratory Subcommittee and serves on the Environmental Health Committee.
