One week later, Oceanside POS® was chosen by the University of North Texas School of Merchandising and Hospitality Management as a teaching instrument.
The University of North Texas offers their Hospitality Management Students an innovative four-year curriculum leading to a bachelor’s degree while placing a strong emphasis in all aspects of business and hospitality management. UNT has led their students by example after selecting a PA-DSS 2.0 validated payment application provided by Dallas based Oceanside Software Corporation®. The selection of a validated payment application demonstrates UNT’s commitment to teaching their students the importance of protecting cardholder data.
The requirement to secure all payment applications was set by the PCI-DSS standards council in July of 2010. The PCI-DSS standards council, an open industry standards body providing management of the Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard (PCI DSS), PIN Transaction Security (PTS) requirements and the Payment Application Data Security Standard (PA-DSS), mandated that all payment applications certify in accordance with the payment application data security standard. Obtaining certification is an intensive process that is costly in both time and financial resources.
On August 1st of 2011, Oceanside Software received official word from the PCI Security Standards Council that their flagship product Oceanside POS® is now accepted as a validated payment application. This accomplishment marks a tremendous milestone for Oceanside as they are one of only a handful of companies that have officially certified against the latest 2.0 standard.
