Actiance Meets Initial Requirements for Common Criteria IA and Federal Information Processing Standard (FIPS) 140-2

BELMONT, CA--(Marketwire - Sep 13, 2011) - Actiance, enablers of the safe and compliant use of unified communications, collaboration and Web 2.0, today announced the completion of two initial assessments for federal technical requirements for its Vantage and Unified Security Gateway (USG) solutions. Conducted by Science Applications International Corporation (SAIC) Labs, Actiance has performed initial assessment requirements and met the expected standards of Common Criteria IA SL2 and The Federal Information Processing Standard (FIPS) 140-2.

An increasing drive toward the usage of real-time communications and social media platforms in government communities has lead to a rising concern about unauthorized information leakage and security threats. Federal agencies are beginning to leverage technology solutions to overcome the challenge of managing the volume of information across the variety of platforms, such as social media and Web 2.0 applications. Actiance effectively monitors, tracks and archives content across social and real-time communications channels to protect against unsanctioned disclosures through outlets as diverse as Jabber, Microsoft Lync and Facebook.

"The successful certification testing validates the maturity of the Actiance platform in providing information assurance and application control for unified communications and social networks in a federal environment," said Howard Klayman, Federal program manager at Actiance.

Actiance's portfolio includes Vantage and Unified Security Gateway (USG). Vantage supports a variety of platforms, including Microsoft Lync Server, Office Communications Server (OCS), IBM Sametime, Cisco Unified Presence (CUP), Jabber, public instant messaging (IM) platforms including Skype and Web conferencing tools, ensuring a highly scalable, secure, managed solution is available for any of the leading platforms. Actiance's USG is the only secure web gateway to combine feature and content controls of social networks with the monitoring, management and security of Web 2.0 applications. It provides granular control of websites and applications as well as content posted to blogs, wikis, webmail and social networking sites. USG reduces outbound data leakage and enforces compliance with regulatory and legal discovery, and corporate policy requirements by moderating, monitoring and logging content posted to popular social networks.
