A stunning vision of Fashion with Compassion™ took to the runway in Toronto at the Eighth Annual White Cashmere Collection on Wednesday, September 28 at the Art Gallery of Ontario. Fifteen established and emerging Canadian designers crafted garments and accessories in 100 per cent pure, soft and luxurious Cashmere Bathroom Tissue, Canada's best-selling brand, to support the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation's vision of creating a future without breast cancer.

The White Cashmere Collection, which debuted in 2004, has featured 87 top Canadian designers. This year's show features an awesome cast of fashion luminaries including Philip Sparks, Marika Brose, José Manuel St-Jacques, Christopher Paunil, LIZARES by Brian Maristela, L'autre Couture by Luko Marion, Carrie Hayes, Jason Matlo, Richard Robinson, LOVAS by Wesley Badanjak, Simon Bélanger, Hoax Couture by Chris Tyrell and Jim Searle, Franco Mirabelli, Ever Thine hats by Mikki Rizvi and accessories by Rita Tesolin.

The White Cashmere Collection highlights the brand's support of the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation and includes high-fashion BT couture photography; a breathtaking runway show; a consumer contest and online fundraiser; and a month-long display in The Bay's flagship store windows at Yonge and Queen Streets in Toronto and on Rue Sainte-Catherine in Montreal.

Designing a Future without Breast Cancer

The White Cashmere Collection 2011 heralds the annual return of limited-edition Pink Cashmere – which is sporting its first redesign this year since it debuted in 2008 – as a fundraiser for the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation with twenty-five cents from the sale of every package going directly to the cause, throughout October Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

"Breast cancer touches us all. We are mothers, daughters, sisters and wives who are vulnerable yet strong and the White Cashmere Collection is a wonderful way to celebrate the courage and strength of women affected by breast cancer and to support the fight against the cause," says Nancy Marcus, Corporate Vice President, Consumer Marketing at Kruger Products. "Cashmere is a devoted supporter of the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation, and we are proud to be one of its top five national partners."

A Ribbon of Hope

This year's spectacular runway show kicked off with Alexandra Martincek's inspiring rhythmic gymnastics routine performed with a pink ribbon to honour the cause in an innovative way.

Showcasing a stellar cast of Canada's leading lights of fashion, the runway show was hosted by Canada AM co-host and breast cancer survivor, Bev Thomson, and featured celebrity model Angie Smith, co-host of Entertainment Tonight Canada.

The spectacular show was curated by Canadian fashion designer Farley Chatto who assembled an amazing roster of designers who created everything from men's and evening wear to jewelry and accessories, crafted from Cashmere Bathroom Tissue.

"I was delighted to assemble such a wonderful crew of designers for the Cashmere Bathroom Tissue Couture Collection," says collection curator Farley Chatto. "This year's innovative collection includes men's wear by Lizares' Brian Maristela crafted in BT for the first time along with the collection's first-ever mature model. I'm thrilled to be involved."

Internationally-recognized fashion photographer, Mario Miotti, whose proudest moments this year include a beauty shoot for ELLE Canada and a men's fashion story in Sharp Magazine, staged the collection's high-fashion photo shoot, which was revealed at the show, at 1212 Décor in Toronto. Continuing their annual support of the collection, Marc Anthony and MAC Cosmetics brought Farley's stunning vision for hair and makeup to life at the shoot and lent their creative talents to style the models in this year's BT couture collection once again.

Be Social! VOTE Couture for the Cure

This year, Cashmere will augment its support of the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation with an engaging Vote Couture for the Cure™ initiative at Cashmere.ca throughout October. Canadians will be invited to view the collection and vote for their favourite couture. Cashmere will donate $10,000 to the Foundation in the winning designer's name. Canadians who join the Cashmere Facebook page have the chance to win an exclusive pair of white cashmere gloves created by WCC 2008 designer, Thien Le.
