Mondo to showcase Natura rubber flooring at Healthcare Design 2011

NASHVILLE, Tenn., Nov. 15, 2011 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Mondo, a global leader in the sports and contract flooring markets, at Healthcare Design Conference 2011 this week is showcasing Natura, one of its Greenguard Children & Schools-Certified rubber flooring surfaces. The conference is Nov. 13 to Nov. 16 at the Gaylord Opryland Resort & Convention Center.

Natura has a number of features and characteristics that make it ideal for a wide range of healthcare environments such as emergency, operating and patient rooms; triage; post-anesthesia care and neonatal intensive care units; surgery preparation and recovery environments; laboratories; radiology units; and corridors and common areas. The rubber flooring also has exceptional acoustic properties that effectively reduce the sound of foot traffic, which helps facilitate patient healing and reduces noise pollution for staff and patients.

Long-lasting and non-porous, Natura is water- and stain-resistant, and low maintenance—it doesn't require stripping, waxing or sealing. It also is resistant to wear, abrasions and chemicals, including those in most cleaning products.

The slip-resistant surface also is comfortable underfoot yet has high dimensional stability, so it can withstand high static and rolling loads, such as gurneys, imaging equipment, carts, tables and chairs.

"Mondo has always invested heavily in manufacturing durable, high-quality flooring that is safe for the environment and the people who use it," said Federico Stroppiana, vice president, strategic development, Mondo Group. "Our rubber flooring products also are antibacterial and antimicrobial throughout, which supports healthcare facilities' infection control, and they do not require any synthetic antibacterial components or topical coatings. This is another reason that hospitals and healthcare centers install Mondo products with the utmost confidence."

Mondo manufactures a range of innovative, Greenguard-Certified, eco-friendly products that are sustainable and contribute to builders' LEED initiatives. The company is committed to producing surfaces that do not harm the environment at any stage of the manufacturing process. Its rubber flooring surfaces are 100 percent recyclable and made of sustainable materials including renewable natural rubber, natural fillers and color pigments that are free of lead and other heavy metals.

At the 2010 HealthCare Design Conference, Mondo's newest rubber flooring system, Idea, won the Nightingale Award for Healthcare Product Design.
