Overall, the report found that the average family of four spent $3,633 in out of pocket health care costs in 2011. • That same family spent $5,208 in insurance premiums in 2011;
• Of those Simplee members with high deductible plans, the average individual in-network deductible was $1,094;
• The average family of four was billed a total of $15,512 in regularly priced medical care in 2011;
• That same family only paid $8,841 in premiums and out of pocket costs after insurance negotiated discounts.
