HIPAAT Provides Centralized Auditing for Largest Diagnostic Imaging Repository in Ontario

CGI leverages HIPAAT's Universal Audit Repository

TORONTO, ONTARIO--(Marketwire - Jan. 17, 2012) - HIPAAT Inc. (HIPAAT), a leading provider of consent management and auditing solutions for health care, today announced its multi-year contract with CGI Group, Inc. (CGI) to provide its standards-based audit repository to Ontario's fourth and largest Diagnostic Imaging repository (DI-r). This news follows the recent eHealth Ontario, Canada Health Infoway and CGI announcements regarding the DI-r solution that will benefit 1.5 million patients later this year.

The GTA West DI-r will provide a shared repository for storage, retrieval and viewing of diagnostic reports and images, such as X-rays and MRIs, across multiple health care facilities in the greater Toronto area (GTA) and central Ontario. The initiative is co-funded by eHealth Ontario and Canada Health Infoway.

The GTA West DI-r project team and CGI Group will operate the DI-r on behalf of a University Health Network-led consortium of 20 health care facilities across five Local Health Integration Networks (LHINs), representing approximately 39 sites in the GTA and central Ontario.

HIPAAT's Universal Audit Repository (UAR) version 3.1 will provide the GTA West with a secure, centralized audit trail of access to diagnostic images. This is essential since DI volumes are expected to exceed three million exams annually.

The UAR will enable authorized DI-r administrators to generate comprehensive, customized audit reports and receive security alerts regarding inappropriate access to personal health information. The UAR will also provide clinicians with an alert service to notify them of corrections made to DI exams they had previously viewed.

"We performed an extensive scan of companies that support standards-based auditing and HIPAAT stood at the forefront," said Hitesh Seth, CGI Sector Vice-president, Consulting Services. "HIPAAT is a valued partner and we are pleased the company is bringing their auditing expertise to the GTA-West DI-r project."

"We are very proud to be the auditing solution provider for the GTA West DI-r," said Kel Callahan, HIPAAT President and COO. "We also look forward to supplying our consent management technologies to support CGI when the GTA West DI-r requires this functionality. As specialists in consent management and auditing, we are pleased to play a role in improving health care privacy, security and decision-making at Ontario hospitals."

CGI's solution is designed to leverage the Integrating the Healthcare Enterprise (IHE) Information Technology Infrastructure technical frameworks. HIPAAT's UAR has followed IHE's Audit Trail and Node Authentication (ATNA) profile since 2005. Foundational to the UAR v3.1 is its support of the DICOM Supplement 95, passed in August 2010.
