NEW YORK, March 2, 2012 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- QSI Partners Ltd ("QSI"), a unit of Globe Specialty Metals, Inc. (Nasdaq:GSM) today announces that it has entered into an asset purchase agreement to purchase certain of Becancour Silicon Inc.'s ("BSI") assets (the "Assets"), including BSI's shares in its 51% owned plant in Becancour, Canada. QSI previously extended DIP financing to BSI and Timminco Ltd on January 18, 2012. BSI and Timminco are currently restructuring and, subject to court approval, QSI's agreement will stand as a "stalking horse bid" in the marketing process for the Assets.
