Hilton Bonnet Creek, Orlando, Florida, March 17-21

ORLANDO, Fla., March 19, 2012 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- More than 2,000 attendees from across the nation and Canada arrived in Orlando to attend the American Dental Education Association's (ADEA) 89th Annual Session & Exhibition at the Hilton Bonnet Creek, March 17-21.

The ADEA Annual Session & Exhibition brings together academic dental institutions, research, and industry to present more than a hundred continuing education courses over five days. In addition, the session will feature more than 60 exhibiting companies.

This year's theme for the meeting is "Engage," which was created by ADEA President Leo E. Rouse, D.D.S., to urge academic dental institutions to engage in transforming the world of dental education. "I am so proud of the transformative activities at ADEA, such as, ADEA's GoDental (a new experience for new and current students); ADEA's Transforming Admissions, A Practical Guide to Fostering Student Diversity in Dental Schools; the 75th Anniversary of the Journal of Dental Education; and the ADEA Guidelines for Academia-Industry Interactions, which demonstrate our commitment to developing and sustaining institutional environments that foster personal, academic, and industry integrity and professionalism with the allied, predoctoral, and advanced dental education communities" says Dr. Rouse. When asked to explain the reasons behind choosing Engage as the theme for the conference, Dr. Rouse adds, "This theme speaks to the future and the outcomes to which we aspire: better individuals, better health professions, a better community, and better health for the public."

ADEA kicked off its Annual Session & Exhibition on Sunday, March 18, at 8:30 a.m. with the Opening Plenary featuring guest speaker, Chef Marcus Samuelsson.
