BowBridge Protects Web-Enabled SAP(R) Applications From Content-Based Attacks With Sophos Anti-Malware Engine

WALLDORF, Germany, May 14, 2012 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- BowBridge Software, a leading provider of content security solutions for SAP® applications, today announced version 3.0 of its AntiVirus Bridge for SAP solutions. The latest offering will use Sophos' anti-malware engine to deliver unmatched content protection for business-critical SAP infrastructures.

In order to support the growing need for mobility and streamlined business processes, enterprises increasingly expose Web-enabled applications to the Internet. As a result, these mission-critical enterprise applications are often threatened by malware uploads and other content-based attacks, such as cross-site-scripting (XSS), malicious active content and hybrid "chameleon"-files. If stored in the database, these can affect internal or external users and result in significant damage to an enterprise's security and reputation.

BowBridge solutions explicitly address these threats by leveraging the Sophos anti-malware engine embedded in version 3.0 of AntiVirus Bridge for SAP solutions. The solution detects and blocks file format anomalies, scripts, hidden content and malware embedded in files transferred to or from SAP solutions, helping prevent infections and protecting the application's integrity. AntiVirus Bridge integrates with SAP NetWeaver® Application Server (ABAP® and Java) and is easy to deploy and managed entirely from within SAP tools.

"The Sophos anti-malware engine significantly increases the ease-of-use of our product and its overall performance," says Michele Vierra, business development manager, North America at BowBridge. "And for our customers, securing their SAP applications becomes an easy one-stop-shop experience."

Michael Rogers, vice president of OEM and strategic partnerships, Sophos adds: "Enterprises that open up their most critical SAP applications to the Internet need to make sure they are adequately protected. The combination of BowBridge's deep know-how with SAP solutions and Sophos' malware expertise gives enterprises the tailored security they need to be confident their applications are secure."

BowBridge AntiVirus Bridge version 3.0 for SAP solutions, with an embedded Sophos scan engine, is scheduled to become available early in the third quarter of 2012.
