Dollar Bank First to Bring Video Teller Services to Pittsburgh

PITTSBURGH, PA--(Marketwire - Jul 30, 2012) - Dollar Bank begins operating new video teller services, known as Personal Teller Machines (PTM), at the North Hills and Virginia Manor Offices today. Each facility has a drive-up PTM and a lobby PTM operating from 8:00 AM until 10:00 PM, Monday through Saturday.

A Personal Teller Machine looks like an ATM, the difference is that you can interact real-time with a Dollar Bank teller who can remotely control the machine and guide you through most branch transactions. Using video cameras, a customer's image is transmitted to the Personal Teller located at the Customer Service Center in Pittsburgh, PA. Cameras at the Customer Service Center transmit the Personal Teller's image back to the customer. Sound is carried through built in speakers and a handset is available when using the machine in the bank lobby.

Dollar Bank customers in the north and south regions of Pittsburgh will now be able to do their banking at non-traditional times and experience faster in-branch service at busy times of the day by accessing a live, remote teller via a video connection through the PTM.

Dollar Bank has worked with NCR Corporation (NYSE: NCR) and uGenius Technology, LLC to deliver this technology to banking customers. uGenius and NCR Corporation collaborated in 2011 to build the first PTM that lets a customer talk and bank with a live, remote teller, permitting branches to open earlier and to stay open longer.

"We are excited to be the first bank to introduce Personal Teller Machines to the Pittsburgh region," said Robert Oeler, President and Chief Executive Officer. "The PTMs will improve our customer service by permitting Dollar Bank customers the convenience of extended hours of service six days a week, while providing personal teller services through a machine. Customers will have the confidence of knowing they are speaking with a real Dollar Bank employee when they make a deposit or request a bank service through the PTM. That is an exciting new service for our industry," said Mr. Oeler.

"We congratulate Dollar Bank on being the first in their region to go live with APTRA Interactive Teller," said Michael O'Laughlin, Senior Vice President, NCR Financial Services. "Dollar's new personal teller machines will help them efficiently bring more services and a better experience to their customers -- without losing that human touch."

Dollar Bank will communicate this new PTM service to its customers through direct mail, e-mail, branch merchandising and a concierge approach in the branch. "We will introduce this new, convenient banking service to our customers by having a branch employee show them how the remote teller can be used for their daily banking transactions," said Jim McQuade, Senior Vice President for Retail Banking.

"The remote teller will be visible on the video screen to the customer and will answer questions and execute transactions. The extended hours of operation at the PTM (8:00 AM until 10:00 PM, Monday through Saturday) and the ease of use for the machine will add a new level of customer service and convenience," continued Mr. McQuade.

uGenius, which has pioneered video banking solutions to financial institutions since 2004, also played a big role in developing Dollar Bank's new PTMs. "Not only does video banking dramatically improve the in-lobby or drive-thru experience, it also allows Dollar Bank to expand its service hours to provide greater convenience for customers," said Gene Pranger, CEO of uGenius. "Dollar Bank is genuinely interested in meeting the needs of their customers and has become a visionary leader in defining the future of Retail Banking in North America."
