Death of Inmate at Archambault Institution


SAINTE-ANNE-DES-PLAINES, QUEBEC--(Marketwire - Jan. 30, 2013) - On January 30, 2013, inmate Christopher Norman Jost, from Archambault Institution was found unresponsive in his cell. Correctional Officers immediately performed CPR and an ambulance was called.

The offender was taken to the Cité-de-la-Santé Hospital where he was pronounced dead at 10:10 a.m.

At the time of his death, Mr. Jost, 46 years old, was subject to a Long Term Supervision Order that started on May 8, 2008 following a third federal sentence of 6 years and 6 months for Sexual Assault, Forcible Confinement and Disguise with Intent.

Next of kin have been notified.

As in all cases where an individual dies while in custody, the police and coroner have been notified. In addition, the Correctional Service of Canada will review the circumstances surrounding the incident.
