Arlington Chiropractor Featured on "Sports Journey" Radio Talk Show

ARLINGTON, Va., Feb. 10, 2013 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Jacobs Chiropractic of Arlington announced that the practice is now sponsoring Sports Journey Radio every Tuesday night from 7:00 to 9:00pm. The show features professional athletes and media personalities discussing the latest sports news, including injuries and the rehabilitation process. Dr. Wendy Jacobs will be a contributing guest on the show, discussing sports medicine and how chiropractic care can help the body heal following an injury and naturally manage pain. Dr. Jacobs is an Arlington sports injury and military chiropractor focused on wellness care and injury rehabilitation.

Radio talk show "Sports Journey" now features Arlington chiropractor Dr. Wendy Jacobs as a guest contributor discussing sports medicine and injury rehabilitation. Dr. Jacobs, an Army and sports injury chiropractor, is known for her expertise treating professional athletes and military members.

"I am excited to sponsor and contribute to the Sports Journey Radio show every Tuesday evening," said Dr. Jacobs. "Many athletes do not understand just how important rehabilitation is following an injury. You don't have to be a professional athlete to need professional care. As a program contributor, my goal is to raise awareness about the importance of treating athletic injuries."

A U.S. Army Veteran, Dr. Jacobs served as an Army chiropractor for the all-Army teams. She has also provided chiropractic care and injury rehabilitation for Washington, D.C.-based professional athletes.

Dr. Jacobs uses her substantial experience with injury rehabilitation to educate patients about proper care following an injury. According to Dr. Jacobs, ignoring an injury will lead to the buildup of scar tissue, which will slowly worsen and cause chronic pain.

"A musculoskeletal injury cannot simply heal itself," said Dr. Jacobs. "A mechanical misalignment of the spine or a soft tissue tear requires proper treatment. I tell all my patients, whether they are casual runner or professional basketball players, that prompt treatment is the best way to manage pain and support the recovery process."

Dr. Jacobs follows an integrated approach to injury rehabilitation, combining chiropractic adjustments with physiotherapy exercises and massage therapy. This integrated approach to care provides immediate pain relief while speeding the recovery process.

For example, an underlying spinal misalignment may put the body at risk for a soft tissue injury. This injury can then lead to chronic knee pain, back pain or shoulder pain. An integrated approach to sports medicine will correct the underlying spinal misalignment and also relieve pain.

"My goal is to help every patient get off the sidelines and back in the game," said Dr. Jacobs. "As a guest contributor to Sports Journey Radio, I discuss sports medicine and share my personal experiences helping patients heal. By educating listeners, more people will understand the importance of rehabilitative care."

Sports Journey Radio broadcasts live every Tuesday night from Arlington Square Lounge in the Avalon.
