NASDAQ OMX Iceland hf. announces a change in the method for calculating official closing prices for equities. The change entails that closing best bid and ask prices will no longer affect official closing prices.
The change is made with reference to modifications in the rules for NASDAQ OMX equity indexes.
After this change the official closing price will be equal to the latest paid price [1] regardless of closing best bid and ask prices.
NB. The change only affects equities. The method for calculating official closing prices for fixed income instruments remains the same.
The change will be effective as of March 19, 2013. It is not retroactive and therefore historical values will not be affected.
