LonMark Interntional to Present Free Webinars On the Importance of Interoperability Systems for Commercial Building Market

SAN JOSE, Calif., March 12, 2013 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- LonMark, a non-profit association for the certification, education and promotion of interoperability standards for control networking, today announced two 45-minute live educational, non-promotional sessions that will discuss the key trends and the challenges relating to control system interoperability, integration, and enterprise access facing the commercial building market.

April 9, 2013 8 AM PST: EASI Platform
This session will present several basic integration concepts and a new model referred to as the Enterprise Application Standard Interface (EASI) platform where applications are able to consume data from a variety of sub-systems and sub-protocols, in a more interoperable way; without the need for knowing or caring about the data transport origin. This model is bringing together key large end users, industry protocol standards development associations, and vendors that are facing similar integration challenges. This collaborative effort is working to solve one of the last fundamental interoperability issues left in smart buildings. Key learning's of this session include:

• An introduction to integration between the BAS to BMS, BMS to EMS
• Enterprise management system applications
• Common Profile Model introduction

Join this introductory session to learn more. Speaker: Ron Bernstein, Chief Ambassador, LonMark International

May 21, 2013 8 AM PST: Power of Profiles
This session will provide an overview of device-function profiling and discuss the importance of this concept in creating interoperable systems. The session will elaborate on the concept of tightly defined information sharing in a contextual framework that allows integrators to have full control over the customization of a system for their clients – using off-the-shelf devices from a variety of vendors. For the end user the benefits of interoperability are combined with the standardization of profiled functions for thermostats, air handlers, lights, elevators, smoke alarms, and more. Attendees will be shown how strong data typing and profiling produce the building blocks for open controls systems. Speaker: Jeremy J. Roberts, LonMark Technical Director

Attendees can ask questions live at the end of the presentations. To register for the live webinars please, visit http://www.lonmark.org/webinars

NOTE: The webinars will also be recorded and posted to the LonMark website for future reference.
