Los Angeles, CA., May 7, 2013 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- SDI Media is pleased to announce the appointment of Doug Roberts as Vice President & General Manager, Access Services, effective immediately. In this role, Doug will be responsible for further strengthening SDI's access services team and infrastructure, ensuring that SDI delivers quality-driven, multi-lingual access services to a wide variety of clients including broadcasters, cable-casters, studios, and internet-content providers. The position is based out of SDI's Los Angeles headquarters.
This new role has been created in response to the increasing demand for live & offline closed captioning and subtitles for the Deaf and Hard-of-Hearing (SDH), as well as audio description services. By focusing on access services, SDI will strongly complement its existing end-to-end localization offering, allowing SDI to further improve timelines and efficiency for its customers, while also enabling SDI's customers to meet the growing legal requirements for access services.

Doug Roberts has been involved in captioning, transcription, subtitling and video post-production for over 25 years and is considered one of the most knowledgeable and credible individuals in the captioning industry. After holding senior positions at NCI and VITAC, Doug later went on to become COO and owner of Closed Captioning Services (CCS). Most recently Doug was President of The DRBC Group and has been working with SDI as a consultant.
