Global Colocation Solutions Provider CyrusOne Plans Celebration of Company's Namesake at Museum of Fine Arts, Houston

CyrusOne Co-Founder and Houston Entrepreneur David Ferdman Inspired by Leadership Principles Set Forth by King Cyrus in the Cyrus Cylinder

DALLAS, June 11, 2013 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Global colocation solutions provider CyrusOne (Nasdaq:CONE) plans to celebrate the history of its namesake, King Cyrus, at a special June 12 event at the "Cyrus Cylinder and Ancient Persia" exhibition at the Museum of Fine Arts, Houston. The exhibition, which runs through June 14, features the Cyrus Cylinder, one of the most famous objects to have survived from the ancient world. Guests of CyrusOne have an opportunity to see the Cyrus Cylinder and other rare objects that tell the story of innovations initiated by Persian rule in the Ancient Near East.

According to CyrusOne President and CEO Gary Wojtaszek, the exhibition is significant because in 2000 the company's original founder, Houston entrepreneur Dave Ferdman, chose to name his new company after King Cyrus, the ruler of ancient Persia.

"The leadership qualities set forth by King Cyrus, including self-reliance, generosity, brevity, loyalty, leading by example, respect, and service, really struck a chord with Dave as characteristics his new company should embody," said Wojtaszek. "He named the company CyrusOne and incorporated the qualities and principles of King Cyrus into our core values and goals."

Today, CyrusOne is known around the world as a preeminent provider of data center services. Its customers include nine of the global Fortune 20 companies and more than 100 of the Fortune 1000. Wojtaszek says the company's success is due in part to having a strong foundation of core values which include helping customers manage their data center requirements with highly efficient and flexible solutions.

The Cyrus Cylinder and Ancient Persia

Dated 539 BC, the Cyrus Cylinder outlines a specific code of ethical behavior put forth by Persian King Cyrus the Great and is widely admired around the world. Inscribed in Babylonian cuneiform—the earliest form of writing—on the orders of King Cyrus, the Cyrus Cylinder is often referred to as the first bill of human rights. It was discovered in Babylon (now Iraq) in 1879 and has been on display at the British Museum ever since. The Museum of Fine Arts, Houston, is one of only a handful of venues in North America to host the Cyrus Cylinder and other rare objects that tell the story of innovations initiated by Persian rule in the Ancient Near East. The exhibition opened May 3 at the Museum of Fine Arts, Houston, and runs through June 14.
