OC Association of Legal Administrators Send OC Pediatric Cancer Patients and Families to Camp Through Charity Golf Tournament

IRVINE, Calif., July 8, 2013 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- In support of weekend camps for families facing pediatric cancer, the Orange County Chapter of the Association of Legal Administrators (OC-ALA) will host "Driving for Campers with Cancer," a golf tournament fundraiser, on Tuesday, September 17, 2013 beginning at 3:30 p.m. at Oak Creek Golf Course located at 1 Golf Club Drive in Irvine, CA.

With a goal of raising funds to send patients and their families to camp, the golf tournament, silent auction and dinner will benefit the Orange County Foundation for Oncology Children and Families (OCF-OCF), a non-profit organization that provides support activities at no cost to pediatric cancer patients and their families who live or receive treatment in Orange County.

It is anticipated that over 100 OC-ALA chapter members and business partners will participate in the day's events, as part of the OC-ALA Community Connection program, a community service initiative that encourages the legal community to work together for local causes.

OC-ALA Board President Connie Jedrzejewski was inspired to support the family camps after her husband David lost his battle with colon cancer in 2009.

Says OC-ALA President Connie Jedrzejewski, "It is an honor for OC-ALA to support the Orange County Foundation for Oncology Children and Families. I know firsthand the importance of quality family time with a loved one battling cancer and I am proud that OC-ALA can give assistance to these families."

OCF-OCF's weekend-long camps in the San Bernardino Mountains give patients and their families facing the stress of cancer the opportunity to unwind and connect with others facing similar situations through activities including horseback riding, archery, crafts and a ropes course.

"Driving for Campers with Cancer" schedule of events will include:

  • 3:30 p.m. – Shotgun Start (9 holes / Par 3 scramble)
  • 6:00 p.m. – Cocktails, Appetizers and Start of the Silent Auction
  • 7:00 p.m. – Dinner and Celebration

Costs are $80 for golf only, $35 for dinner only or $115 for golf & dinner. Several sponsorship opportunities are available, including donating items to the silent auction. The event is open to the public. All proceeds will benefit OCF-OCF.
