Lubrizol to Feature Tecothane(TM) Soft TPU Technology at 2013 MedTec China
New products include Tecothane(TM) Soft polymers with expanded hardnesses and enhanced benefits
SHANGHAI and CLEVELAND, September 18, 2013 - Lubrizol LifeScience Polymers will feature its recently expanded line of Tecothane(TM) Soft polymers during the 2013 MedTec China show, September 25-26 at the Shanghai World Expo Exposition & Convention Center.
Designed specifically for medical applications, these new soft polymers offer an alternative to materials such as rubbers and silicones, while still providing the benefits of a thermoplastic polymer. Mechanical properties include strong tear resistance, excellent resilience and recoverability and several material hardnesses. The new Tecothane Soft TPU products are plasticizer free and feature low specific gravity and better alcohol and chemical resistance compared with standard polyurethanes. Finally, they're suitable for a wide range of sterilization methods commonly found in hospitals, including hydrogen peroxide.
Explaining how the extension of the Tecothane Soft polymer product line will lead to expanded usability, LifeScience Polymers global business manager Ralf Hüther said, "Making harder materials available means that our customers can use Tecothane Soft TPU in a broader range of applications, including larger catheters and extension tubing."
