Lubrizol to Showcase Expanded Line of Pellethane® TPUs at MedTec China
Eight new Pellethane® polymer products will serve as dependable options for advanced wound care and multifunction medical device manufacturers
SHANGHAI and CLEVELAND, September 19, 2013 -The Lubrizol Corporation announces plans to exhibit at this year's MedTec China show September 25-26 at the Shanghai World Expo Exhibition & Convention Center. At the show, Lubrizol LifeScience Polymers will present recently launched Pellethane® TPU products for use in wound care and medical device applications.
New Pellethane® TPUs (thermoplastic polyurethanes) 5863-82A, 5863-82AE, 5863-85A, and 5863-90A provide a high moisture vapor transmission rate (MVTR) for film wound care applications. This allows wounds to breathe, but prevents water, microbes and other particles from entering.
Additional Pellethane grades are intended for medical device and medical supply applications. Because TPUs have a higher tensile strength than other elastomers, catheters, tubing and medical bags made with Pellethane exhibit a high resistance to abrasion and punctures. Using conventional extrusion equipment, films as thin as 1 mil now can be extruded or laminated upon a variety of substrates creating thinner, lighter, more economical, and liquid-proof constructions, including nonwovens such as garments and drapes.
