Burns & McDonnell Named for Third Year in a Row to Fortune Magazine's Annual List of the '100 Best Companies to Work For'


KANSAS CITY, MO--(Marketwired - Jan 16, 2014) - For the third consecutive year, Burns & McDonnell has been named as one of America's "100 Best Companies to Work For" by Fortune magazine. Burns & McDonnell climbed to number 14 on the publication's 17th annual list of "100 Best Companies to Work For." The company ranked 18 on the 2013 list and 26 in 2012. Burns & McDonnell also made the list at number 50 in 2009. The highly regarded ranking includes some of the most well-known companies in corporate America.

Applicant companies opt to participate in the selection process, which includes an employee survey and an in-depth questionnaire about their programs and practices. Great Place to Work® then evaluates each application using its unique methodology based on five dimensions: credibility, respect, fairness, pride and camaraderie.

Burns & McDonnell added more than 700 positions to its national and international workforce during 2013, finishing the year with more than 4,300 employees. More than 2,400 employees are located in the Kansas City area with the remainder located in more than 30 offices throughout North America and abroad. To pick the "100 Best Companies to Work For," Fortune works with the Great Place to Work Institute -- a global research and consulting firm operating in 45 countries -- to conduct the most extensive employee survey in corporate America. More than 277,000 employees from 259 companies responded to the survey created by the Institute. Two-thirds of a company's score is based on the Institute's Trust Index survey, which is sent to a random sample of employees from each company. The remaining third is based on a company's responses to the Institute's Culture Audit questionnaire, which asks detailed questions about pay and benefits, and open-ended questions on hiring practices, methods of internal communication, training, recognition programs and diversity efforts.
