CaroTrans Launches U.S. West Coast LCL Service to All Points in Central America

March 6th Marks Start of New Service From Los Angeles Gateway

CLARK, NJ--(Marketwired - Mar 6, 2014) - CaroTrans, a leading global NVOCC (non-vessel operating common carrier) and ocean freight consolidator, today announces a new weekly, direct, all-water LCL (less than container load) service from the U.S. West Coast to all points in Central America including: Belize, Costa Rica, Guatemala, Honduras, Nicaragua, El Salvador and Panama. This comprehensive distribution network delivers full coverage of Central American locations via secure, bonded, on-forwarding. U.S. West Coast service features enhanced transits, reduced handling and lower costs compared to routing via the traditional Miami Gateway.

CaroTrans has an established U.S. infrastructure, including 24 local CFS (container freight stations), that provide customers with local support and experience throughout the U.S. On the West Coast, CaroTrans offers consolidation centers in Seattle, Portland and San Francisco for expedited service to the Los Angeles gateway.

"This new U.S. West Coast service to Central America further reinforces our commitment to delivering services where they are needed. After 35 years of providing dependable global ocean transportation services, we have a strong, experienced network designed to provide our customers with first-class service and support," said Greg Howard, global CEO of CaroTrans.

Central America is a robust region for U.S. exports and one which Carotrans has been servicing for over 30 years. The U.S. Department of Commerce's International Trade Administration calculates that there are 40 million potential buyers in Central America. 50% of the region's imports come from the United States. Ongoing infrastructure development in this area increases demand for construction equipment and road building machinery. Other best prospects for exports include medical equipment and devices and safety/security products.

CaroTrans continues to grow its global LCL and FCL service network by adding direct, expedited import and export services to serve market demand. January 2014, CaroTrans further developed its transpacific service network between the U.S. and Northern Asia. A N.Y. to St. Petersburg, Russia export service was added November 2013.
