HealthEast Hospital Makes 100 Top Hospital List

ST. PAUL, MN--(Marketwired - Mar 14, 2014) - HealthEast Woodwinds Health Campus in Woodbury is one of only two Minnesota hospitals ranked among the nation's 100 top hospitals according to Truven Health. Woodwinds made Truven Health's 2014 100 Top Hospital list in the best small community hospitals category for achieving both strong quality and financial performance. This is the fourth time Woodwinds has been recognized as a 100 Top Hospital.

Woodwinds also earned the Everest Award, which honors hospitals that have achieved both the highest current performance and the fastest long-term improvement over five years.

"Being named a 100 Top Hospital is what happens when you have leaders and staff committed to doing what is right for patients and families -- everyday," said Scott North, Sr. Vice President and President of HealthEast Acute Care hospitals. "They work as a team to ensure an outstanding experience -- in both clinical care and the quality of service provided at Woodwinds."

Truven Health identifies hospitals and leadership teams that provide the highest level of value to their communities, based on independent and objective public data. The hospitals recognized were measures by performance across 10 areas: mortality; inpatient complications; patient safety; average patient stay; expenses; profitability; patient satisfaction; adherence to clinical standards of care; and post-discharge mortality and readmission rates for acute myocardial infarction (heart attack), heart failure, and pneumonia.

"Our focus on quality, safety and satisfaction is foundational to our organization," says North. "I believe that Woodwinds and HealthEast will continue to make a positive impact in our communities and will be positioned well to transform the future of health care."

Maple Grove Hospital was also recognized with this top honor. The winning hospitals were announced in the current issue of Modern Healthcare magazine.
