AVX TO DELIVER EIGHT TECHNICAL PRESENTATIONS & CHAIR A SESSION AT THE 2014 CARTS INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE

Next week, top AVX engineers will present six technical presentations, two technical product introductions, & chair a session at the world's leading annual passive electronics components conference

GREENVILLE, S.C., March 27, 2014 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- AVX Corporation, a leading manufacturer of advanced passive components and interconnect solutions, will deliver eight technical presentations and chair a technical session at the 2014 CARTS International Conference, which will take place March 31–April 3, 2014 at the Biltmore Hotel in Santa Clara, Calif. and will focus on the use of electronic components in embedded systems with an emphasis on automotive, aerospace, and energy exploration. Sponsored by the Electronic Components Industry Association (ECIA) and widely recognized as the world's leading annual technical conference for the passive electronic components industry, CARTS assembles industry experts from around the world to share the latest technical and market intelligence on capacitors, resistors, and other passive components with attendees, who include component engineers and designers, manufacturers, applications engineers, and academics, amongst others.

"CARTS is well respected in the passive components industry and, with the ECIA behind it, maintains an extremely high standard for excellence when it comes to expertise, so we are pleased, excited, and truly honored to have been invited to participate in so many of the technical sessions that make up this year's CARTS International Conference," said AVX Fellow Ron Demcko. "We look forward to sharing the knowledge we've gleaned through our R &D efforts this year, as well as to learning about other notable developments within the industry."

On Monday, March 31, AVX Fellow Ron Demcko will close out the very first technical seminar, Passive Components Testing Advancements: Getting it Right the First Time, with an in-depth discussion about advanced testing considerations for MLCCs. On Tuesday, April 1, AVX will present three of the six presentations that comprise Session 2: Embedded Systems and Passive Components.  Ron Demcko and AVX Technical Marketing Manager Tomas Zednicek will open the session with "Embedded Capacitor Technology: Options and Updates."  After the midsession break, Pat Hollenbeck, an applications engineer at AVX, will present Session 2.4, "Capacitor Technology Options for High Temperature and Harsh Environment Applications," and Edgardo Menendez, a field applications engineer at AVX, will present Session 2.6, "Multilayer Organic (MLO™) Technology – A New Material System for RF Applications," to close the session.

The third CARTS session, Reliability Assessment and Testing, which will be chaired by Ron Demcko, will begin at 8:00am on Wednesday, April 2.  Later that day, Tomas Zednicek and Marc Beaulieu, manager of quality and reliability at AVX Biddeford, will present two of the eight 10-minute presentations that comprise the Technical Introduction of Products (TIPs) session, which is designed to showcase the technical specifications of electronic component products for OEM engineers and designers who are essential to design win decisions.  Tomas' presentation will address new tantalum products and Marc's will address reliability grading for tantalum capacitors.

Lastly, on Thursday, April 3, Pat Hollenbeck will present "Performance Characteristic Comparison of Filter Capacitor Technology in Power Electronics" during Session 4: Applications and Tomas Zednicek will present "High CV Wet Tantalum DC Capacitors" during Session 5: Advanced Materials and Construction.
