Lincoln Military Housing Celebrates Month of the Military Child

Employees Wear Purple to Show Support and Appreciation for the Military Youth

VIRGINIA BEACH, VA--(Marketwired - Apr 15, 2014) - To celebrate Month of the Military Child, Lincoln Military Housing employees are wearing purple on April 15th to show their support and appreciation of military children across the nation. Lincoln Military Housing, a Public Private Venture (PPV) providing quality housing for military families, recognizes the nation's littlest heroes throughout the month with purple clothing, ribbons, and several activities for the children who reside in their housing.

"We recognize the sacrifices that military children must make as their parent or parents serve our nation," says Brooke Scarbrough, Community Services Director, Lincoln Military Housing, Hampton Roads, "and we think it is important to honor that with our show of support."

Throughout April, Lincoln Military Housing will be hosting various activities for its smallest residents, such as flower planting activities, and Spring Fling expos which include a petting zoo, egg dying and cotton candy. Lincoln Military Housing also creates events each month with kids in mind, such as Kids' Crew, part of its Summer Event Programing which gives kids a chance to treat their parents to fun events throughout the Hampton Roads Area. All events for LMH housing residents are free and create opportunities to meet new neighbors and improve the quality of life for military families.

April was designated "The Month of the Military Child" in 1986 by Secretary of Defense Caspar W. Weinberger, recognizing the resiliency and contributions made by children across the military branches.
