DE-CIX New York Turns Up Akamai as First Internet Exchange Customer

Akamai Chooses DE-CIX New York Carrier-Neutral Exchange as Key Part of U.S. Peering Solution


NEW YORK, NY--(Marketwired - May 12, 2014) - DE-CIX North America, the U.S. arm of the German Internet exchange operator, announces today that Akamai is the first customer turned up on its Internet exchange, DE-CIX New York. Akamai is a global cloud services provider that delivers data packets around the world -- rapidly and securely -- to accelerate the online experience.

Service turn-up for Akamai took place on May 9, delivering the very first packets across DE-CIX New York. Akamai is connecting into DE-CIX's Internet exchange in New York at its 111 8th Ave access site in New York City. Akamai's connection to DE-CIX New York follows a long-term partnership; Akamai is also using DE-CIX's services in Europe and the Middle East.
