Need a Source-Sid Ryan, President of the Ontario Federation of Labour Available for Comment Following Ontario Election Results

TORONTO, ONTARIO--(Marketwired - June 12, 2014) - For months the Ontario Federation of Labour (OFL) has been leading a grassroots campaign opposing Tim Hudak's far right Conservative Party. Reaching into every corner of the province, the Stop Hudak campaign helped shape the public discussion of Hudak's reckless plan to fire 100,000 public sector workers, cut important public services, and provide tax giveaways to wealthy corporations. Research conducted by the OFL and CUPE demonstrated the devastating impact Hudak's cuts would have on local communities, and an aggressive #StopHudak social media campaign communicated the facts and latest election developments to OFL members and the general public.

Following today's election, the OFL and the labour community will continue to press for policies that support working people and build a fair Ontario. These include expanded workplace rights, good pensions for all, and concrete measures to address youth unemployment, curb the rise of precarious work, reduce income inequality, and stem the tide of austerity once and for all.
