OTTAWA, ONTARIO--(Marketwired - June 20, 2014) - The second annual Welcoming Ottawa Week (WOW) will be celebrated in Ottawa between June 23 to 28, 2014 at various venues in the city, in the run up to Canada Day on July 1st. The celebration this year will build on the overwhelming success of the inaugural WOW in 2013, when Ottawa Mayor, Jim Watson officially proclaimed the last week each year of June as Welcoming Ottawa Week.

The 2014 WOW Calendar of Events features thirty five diverse events catering to all tastes and designed to express Ottawa's welcoming spirit to immigrants and to promote quality interactions between Ottawa residents, old and new. The 2014 WOW events combine a celebration of civic pride, a focus on learning and bridge-building dialogues, and a rich ensemble of sports, arts and culture showcasing Ottawa's rich and diverse heritage.

A breakfast reception hosted by the Ottawa Local Immigration Partnership (OLIP) and the City of Ottawa to launch of 2014 Welcoming Ottawa Week, featuring
- Ottawa Mayor, Jim Watson, reflecting on Ottawa's assets as a welcoming City
- Mayoral recognition of WOW Ambassadors, Ottawa residents selected from a pool of nominations made by immigrants in our city
- Unveiling of the "Faces & Stories of a Welcoming City" Exhibition
- Sneak preview of 2014 WOW events
