Second Annual Army Veterans vs. Navy Veterans Arena Football Game Slated for Saturday

Game Presented by The Judge Group as Part of Philadelphia's Year of The Veteran

PHILADELPHIA, June 25, 2014 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- This Saturday, June 28, 2014 at 6 p.m., two teams of military veterans will clash in a historic football setting.

The arena football game, to be played Saturday, June 28 at the University of Penn's Class of 1923 Arena, will feature legendary former players from both Annapolis and West Point. The game comes one week prior to the Welcome America Festival, part of The City of Philadelphia's Year of the Veteran. Last year, the Navy veterans won the inaugural clash in a thriller, and look to return home with the championship trophy again this year.

"We are going to win and end the Army drought," said Henry Racich, head coach of the Army Veterans team and a veteran of the United States Air Force. "This is our time."

The football game will kick off at 6 p.m., preceded by Rugby Warriors for Heroes, two rugby matches honoring veterans. The first features two local high school competitors: St. Joe's Prep (Philadelphia Mayor Michael Nutter's alma mater) & Archmere Academy (Vice President Joe Biden's alma mater). The second rugby game sees the Philadelphia Rugby Sevens challenge the National Guard All Stars. Doors open at 2 p.m. for a 3 p.m. start.
