Media Advisory/Canada's New Labour Leader's First Words to Saskatchewan: Let's Build a Fairer Canada Together

REGINA, SASKATCHEWAN--(Marketwired - Oct. 28, 2014) - Hassan Yussuff, President of Canada's labour movement, will be in Regina this week, speaking to workers from across the province at the Saskatchewan Federation of Labour Convention.

The SFL convention will draw 650 delegates from both public sector and private sector workers together from front line health care workers, nurses, liquor store workers, transportation workers and workers delivering front line services through many government agencies.

Taking place at the Queensbury Convention Centre (1700 Elphinstone Street), Yussuff's keynote address is scheduled for Thursday, October 30, at 1:50 p.m.

This will be Yussuff's first major address to a Saskatchewan audience since being elected President of the Canadian Labour Congress in May

He will speak about how the labour movement is working for a fairer future for all Canadians. He will talk about the push to expand Canada Pension Plan benefits for all Canadians and why the labour movement intends to stand up to the federal government's plan to walk away from its historic commitment to fund public health care - and cut $36 billion in funding to the provinces at the same time. Yussuff will also talk about the impact of the Temporary Foreign Workers Program on jobs in Saskatchewan and why it's time for a different government in Ottawa.

Yussuff will be available to media on Wednesday, October 29, between 1:00 and 4:00 p.m.

The Canadian Labour Congress represents 3.3 million Canadian workers. The CLC brings together Canada's national and international unions along with the provincial and territorial federations of labour and 111 district labour councils.
