FITSCRIPT Wins Best in Show at 1st Pitch Life Science Competition

FITSCRIPT Makes the Case for Online, Multi-Media Exercise Instruction to Manage Diabetes

NEW YORK, Nov. 12, 2014 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Mid-Atlantic Bio Angels (MABA) announces today that FITSCRIPT (www.fitscript.com), a New Haven, CT-based company developing an online suite of multi-media exercise instruction and metrics specifically geared toward people at risk for or with diabetes, was chosen as "Best in Show" at MABA's 1st Pitch Life Science event, which took place October 28, 2014 in New York.

The company produces video-instructed exercise specifically designed to manage the disease, or potentially prevent its onset for those at high risk, in an online format consisting of the video instruction, combined with software and apps for tracking diabetes metrics, all packaged to be accessible via computer, smartphone, or the traditional DVD formats. The service is available via subscription, and can also currently be referred via the Yale Diabetes Center.

"FITSCRIPT has identified a significant application of remote health monitoring devices in adapting exercise regimens for diabetics.  The concept could have a major impact on treatment costs while enhancing patients' sense of independence and well-being.  No wonder they won "Best in Show," said Steve Goodman, co-founder, MABA, and partner, Pryor Cashman, LLP.

"We understand that one of the largest health problems among people with diabetes is weight management and fitness.  The convenience, accessibility and variety of our FITSCRIPT programming is intended to help people with diabetes achieve fitness results using true scientific and technological advance, while potential referrers and investors can recognize the flexibility and scalability of our platform," said founder and CEO of FITSCRIPT Charles O'Connell, who has Type 1 diabetes himself.  "We were honored to participate in 1st Pitch Life Sciences and are grateful to receive the title, 'Best In Show,' especially considering the event's proximity to World Diabetes Day on November 14th."

About 1st Pitch Life Science

At a 1st Pitch event (http://www.1stpitchlifescience.com), early stage life sciences and healthcare companies make a 15-minute presentation to a panel of experienced life science investors and consultants, followed by a 15-minute audience Q&A. However, where actual investors would then ask the presenting company to leave the room during their subsequent discussion, presenting companies at 1st Pitch are invited to hear the panel constructively critique the company's presentation, business model and perceived viability in the market.

About MABA
