MedStar Harbor Hospital Names New Leadership, Welcomes Stuart M. Levine, MD, FACP as Vice President of Medical Affairs

BALTIMORE, MD--(Marketwired - Dec 4, 2014) -  MedStar Harbor Hospital welcomes Stuart M. Levine, MD, FACP, as vice president of Medical Affairs, effective December 1. Bringing operational and medical leadership experience from within the MedStar Health system, Dr. Levine will provide clinical oversight and medical direction to the hospital's more than 400 physicians, representing over 30 medical and surgical specialties.

In his new role as vice president of Medical Affairs at MedStar Harbor, Dr. Levine will be responsible for process improvement, programmatic growth and improved patient and physician satisfaction. He will also serve as a liaison between the medical staff, senior management and administration, including the hospital President and Board of Directors.

Dr. Levine joins MedStar Harbor after a four-year tenure as the vice chairman of Strategic Growth and Research in the Department of Medicine at MedStar Good Samaritan and MedStar Union Memorial hospitals. In this role, Dr. Levine was instrumental in the conception, development and implementation of a several major initiatives including a health services research program, a new inpatient medical service structure, and a readmissions reduction effort.

In addition, he served as the medical director of the Good Health Center at MedStar Good Samaritan, overseeing the daily operations of a 20-employee regulated health and wellness and chronic disease management center.

Dr. Levine joined MedStar Health in 2010 as a board certified rheumatologist at MedStar Good Samaritan. He will continue to see patients at MedStar Harbor.

After receiving his medical degree from Columbia University's College of Physicians and Surgeons in New York, Dr. Levine continued his training with an internship and residency at Johns Hopkins Hospital and a fellowship in rheumatology at The Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine.
