San Diego Lincoln Military Housing Community Wins Coveted National Night Out Award for the Second Consecutive Year

SAN DIEGO, CA--(Marketwired - Jan 6, 2015) - Since 1981, the National Association of Town Watch (NATW) has partnered with communities across the nation to support crime prevention programs like neighborhood watch, awareness training, and police partnership events. The NATW sponsors a yearly event known as National Night Out (NNO), or -- "America's Night Out Against Crime." This event currently draws millions of participants from all fifty states, US Territories, Canadian cities, and US military bases worldwide, and aims to visibly demonstrate that crime prevention is at the forefront of residents' minds.

Annually, on the first Tuesday in August, National Night Out participants leave their porch lights on all night. Block parties and community events (often involving the support of local law enforcement agencies) serve notice to criminals that residents are highly aware of crime and other community issues. To recognize communities that go above and beyond during the NNO, the NATW awards a select group with a "National Night Out" award to showcase the dedication and support for resident safety.

Lincoln Military Housing strongly supports "America's Night Out Against Crime"

Lincoln Military Housing (LMH) in San Diego, CA, was one of just a handful of communities across the nation that received a National Night Out award from the NATW. This distinct honor was bestowed on an LMH community that serves US service members and their families in the San Diego area for the third year in a row. On August 5th, 2014, LMH residents gathered at the Santo Ball field for fun, food and celebration at the 10th Annual National Night Out. This event is designed to strengthen the community by encouraging neighborhoods to engage in stronger relationships with each other and with their local law enforcement partners. They met with The California National Guard, San Diego Police and Fire Department, and approximately 20 other safety leaders and organizations. During the event, a few organizations presented material relating to safety, crime, and drug prevention. There was also an anti-bullying area with positive community organizations for kids to get involved in such as Cub Scouts, US Naval Sea Cadets and The Karate Academy. Music, team building activities, and family games were included to make this a fun night out for the entire family.
