Ecotech Institute Names Patrick Longstreth as the School's New Academic Dean

Celebrated Software Programmer and Longtime Ecotech Institute Staff Member Will Guide Students in Their Pursuit of an Education in Renewable Energy


DENVER, CO--(Marketwired - Jan 20, 2015) - Ecotech Institute, the first and only school in the U.S. solely focused on renewable energy and sustainability, today announced Patrick Longstreth as the school's new academic dean. Longstreth is responsible for implementing the vision and strategic direction of Ecotech Institute; ensuring student, graduate and employer satisfaction; and making sure all staff at Ecotech Institute meet the high expectations of the school's students and Ecotech Institute's parent company, Education Corporation of America.

Longstreth has been with Ecotech Institute since October 2012, serving as the school's program director for both the Electrical Engineering Technology Program and Power Utility Technician Program. Before coming to Ecotech Institute, he served in a variety of educational roles at ITT Technical Institute and Everest College, including instructor, program director, program chair, associate dean and dean of academic affairs.

Longstreth has also worked as a Semiconductor Technician for Intel Corporation and a deputy sheriff for the Boulder County and El Paso County Sheriff's Departments. In the latter role, he received numerous awards for developing various software applications to assist in jail operations. In total, Longstreth has more than 20 years of programming experience.

Longstreth holds a bachelor's degree from Indiana University and an MA in Education Curriculum and Instruction from the University of Phoenix. He also received an associate's degree in Electronics Engineering Technology at ITT Technical Institute, Louisville, KY.
