Ayla Networks Partners With TCL AC to Accelerate Global Leadership in Connected Home Appliances

SUNNYVALE, CA--(Marketwired - Jan 23, 2015) - Ayla Networks (www.aylanetworks.com), a leading provider of Agile Internet of Things (IoT) platform, today announced its collaboration with TCL (www.tcl.com), one of the largest multinational consumer electronics enterprises headquartered in China.

Together, Ayla and TCL are leading the industry in bringing global innovation to the Internet of Things, making everyday household appliances and electronics smarter and more tailored to evolving consumer needs. The first product that will come out of this partnership is a smart air conditioner system, which will be showcased at the 2015 AHR Expo, from Jan. 26 to 28, McCormick Place, Chicago, in the TCL booth (South Hall #6060).

Founded in 1981, TCL has 18 R&D centers, 20 manufacturing bases, 60,000 and more than 40 sales agencies/offices. In 2014 alone, TCL achieved a global sales of USD nine billion, with a sales volume of 10.86 million LCD TV sets and 43.61 million handsets globally. The company achieved many "firsts" in China, such as being the first in creating the wireless land-line telephone, the first 28-inch color television, the first Chinese-made dual-core processor laptop, and more. Recognizing the need to continuously innovate and bring newer, better products to the market in today's increasingly connected world, after an extensive vendor vetting process of IoT platforms, TCL chose to work with Ayla Networks because of the company's track record working with manufacturers of all trades and sizes, either in the residential, commercial or industrial markets, as well as the platform's best-in-breed technical, and global capabilities.

"The Internet of Things will be in everything and everywhere in the next decade," said Shubin Li, TCL air conditioner General Manager. "Together with Ayla, TCL can get our products connected to the Internet and mobile quickly and securely in one step. TCL global customers will soon be able to view, manage, and control everything in their house on just one app on their phones. We believe that this partnership is a game changer for us, and our business in China, in the US and across the world."

"We're very excited about working with a big electronics brand like TCL, who shares our vision that every product should and will be commanded at our fingertips at all times," said Dave Friedman, CEO and co-founder of Ayla Networks. "The data feedback loop that Ayla powers will enable TCL to build a closer relationship with their customers, and hasten the expansion of their business to reach the more tech savvy consumers and global markets."

Ayla's mission is to provide the world with the first truly agile platform for the Internet of Things, and to allow our manufacturing partners to market their connected products on a global basis. Ayla achieves its high degree of flexibility through a seamless fabric of interconnected elements, including embedded agents for devices, cloud-based back-end infrastructure and services, and intelligent application libraries.

The process of turning conventional products and product lines into Internet-enabled devices with Ayla's technology is fairly straightforward. NXP Semiconductors, Broadcom, STMicroelectronics and Murata Manufacturing among others already produce communications modules compatible that seamlessly link to Ayla's cloud services. Manufacturers need only integrate these modules into their products, often by replacing existing modules in the same socket. Once purchased, consumers need only activate the device with a cell phone or computer.

Customers include global producers of HVAC systems, leading fire and safety equipment vendors, and the largest Chinese language web portal in the world SINA Corporation, as well as emerging innovators in IoT such as LockState, Owlet. The company also recently announced being licensed as an Internet Content Provider (ICP) in China, and expanding the physical presence in Chinese manufacturing center ShenZhen, which makes Ayla the first IoT platform provider with truly global capabilities, and a key player in the world's fastest growing market, China.
