Authentify Partners With LifeMed ID to Offer Strong Mobile Patient ID Authentication in Healthcare

Combines Voice Biometrics and a Unique QR Code Process Via a Patient's Mobile Device to Automate Patient Authentication, Record Matching, Insurance Eligibility and Payment Processing

CHICAGO, March 17, 2015 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Authentify, Inc., the leading supplier of mobile, multi-factor authentication services for protecting user accounts from unauthorized access, today announced a strategic partnership with LifeMed ID, Inc., combining mobile patient authentication with automated registration workflow for patient identity validation, accurate medical record matching, insurance verification and payment processing in healthcare. The combined "Better Together" solution conforms to NIST Electronic Authentication Guidelines for Level of Assurance three (3).

The Authentify and LifeMed ID partnership provides a downloadable mobile application for a patient, serving as an identity token at registration to ensure accurate identity at all points of service. Once staff enrolls a patient, the patient will then download Authentify's voice recognition application to their personal mobile device. A unique QR code is generated instantly by the LifeMed ID solution each time a patient presents their mobile device, enabling the automated registration process to be complete within seconds. The LifeMed ID solution uses providers' point of service (POS) terminals and requires no other form of ID to automate the provider's registration workflow process.

The Authentify and LifeMed ID "Bring Your Own Device" (BYOD) value proposition increases providers' registration efficiency with the benefits of eliminating the creation of duplicate records, preventing fraud and billing mistakes, increasing the privacy of patient information and not requiring change in the provider's PMS/EMR/ADT systems. LifeMed ID also provides a "no cost to qualifying providers" transaction model that eliminates installation and hardware fees and increases revenue.

"LifeMed ID's seamless patient identity add-on solution automatically validates the identity of the patient and always matches and invokes the correct medical record at registration to increase patient safety, satisfaction and care outcomes while optimizing providers' workflow capabilities," said David Batchelor, CEO at LifeMed ID. "By utilizing a patient's mobile device as a validated BYOD identity token, healthcare providers can maximize patient adoption and increase data accuracy and revenue without risk."

Jeff Wilberg, director of Business Development at Authentify, concurred, "Authentify's voice biometrics and mobile applications, paired with LifeMed ID's automated patient identity solution, allows Authentify to expand into the healthcare market by offering a solution that helps solve the problems of accurate patient identification, record matching and patient authentication from any medical facility with a simple issuance process and minimal technical impact."

About Authentify, Inc.

Authentify provides intuitive and consistent multi-factor authentication services for protecting user accounts or key information from unauthorized access. Where many authentication techniques are powerless when valid credentials are wielded by hackers and imposters, Authentify offers certainty, and certainty is power.

Authentify introduced the global security community to its phone-based user authentication services in 2001. Its original phone-based Security as a Service (SaaS) revolutionized the two-factor authentication market. Two-factor authentication (2FA), or two-step verification (2SV), has become a standard for protecting accounts of all types. Authentify xFA mobile multi-factor authentication technology, which employs app endpoints on smart devices, was introduced in 2013. For more information, visit www.authentify.com.
