Authentify to Host FS-ISAC Malaysia Session Exploring Ways to Protect Financial Institutions From Fraud and Data Breaches

Company advocates for out-of-band, post-login authentication practices

CHICAGO, March 19, 2015 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Financial institutions (FIs) today are faced with constant threats to the enterprise in various forms of fraud designed to steal sensitive information. Whether it's a spear phishing malware attack, "familiar fraud" performed by close friends or family of a victim, or even legitimate users completing transactions but then claiming fraud to get money back, it is critically important for FIs to set policies that protect the business. The challenge is that threat actors are more sophisticated, and practices once thought to yield strong security have become obsolete. Single-layered security methods are too easily beaten and no longer recommended.

During the FS-ISAC Workshop in Malaysia next week, Authentify Managing Director, Robert Soden, will host a session to explore the various fraud exploits that are threatening to FIs today and the security practices available to prevent those exploits. The session will study how out-of-band, two-factor and multi-factor authentication work to create a stronger security posture and how implementing these practices "post-login" adds further security while preserving a simple user experience.

The FS-ISAC Workshop will take place on Monday, 23 March 2015, at the Wisma Scope International in Technology Park Malaysia. The workshop, "Post Login Authentication to Defeat Fraudsters," will take place from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. in the Cape Town Room on Level 7. For more information, please visit the FS-ISAC website.

About Authentify, Inc.

Authentify provides intuitive and consistent multi-factor authentication services for protecting user accounts or key information from unauthorized access. Where many authentication techniques are powerless when valid credentials are wielded by hackers and imposters, Authentify offers certainty, and certainty is power.

Authentify introduced the global security community to its phone-based user authentication services in 2001. Its original phone-based Security as a Service (SaaS) revolutionized the two-factor authentication market. Two-factor authentication (2FA), or two-step verification (2SV), has become a standard for protecting accounts of all types. Authentify xFA mobile multi-factor authentication technology, which employs app endpoints on smart devices, was introduced in 2013. For more information, visit www.authentify.com.
