Smart Card Alliance 14th Annual Government Conference to Cover Security Advances in Identity Credentials, Mobile ID, Healthcare and More

The Leading Identity Security Showcase to be Held June 9-10 at the Walter E. Washington Convention Center, Washington, D.C.

PRINCETON JUNCTION, N.J., March 27, 2015 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- The 14th Annual Smart Card Alliance Government Conference, the leading identity security showcase, returns to Washington, D.C. with more than 70 speakers to address efforts toward strong authentication technology in government identity programs. Previously held in the fall, the Government Conference moves to June this year, highlighting topics including updates on PIV1 credentials and NSTIC2, developments in mobile identity programs, and evolving NIST3 standards.

The Government Conference will be held June 9-10, 2015 with pre-conference workshops on June 8 at the Walter E. Washington Convention Center in Washington, D.C. Details on this year's Government Conference agenda and early registration discounts can be found at www.GovSmartID.com.

New this year, the Transglobal Secure Collaboration Program (TSCP), the collaborative forum of worldwide stakeholders in the defense industry formed in 2002 to address security issues, will be co-locating their annual meeting along with the Government Conference.

The conference will include keynote presentations, speakers, panels and roundtable discussions, allowing attendees to choose among multiple identification, security technology and policy track panels to create their own customized conference experience. Tracks include: ID Security Technology & Applications; ID Security Implementation & Policy; Healthcare ID Security; and Biometrics.

The tracks will highlight expanded coverage of initiatives that will see major progress in the next year:

  • FICAM Roadmap and Testing Programs: Identity management issues across government agencies have been well-documented by the Government Accountability Office, NSTIC, and the Office of Management and Budget, and outlined in the new cybersecurity initiative. The resulting roadmap for the framework for federal identity credentials and access management (FICAM) is being combined with testing and compatibility programs for data security, privacy and use of high assurance authentication by government agencies. General Services Administration (GSA) officials will present how the government expects to meet these goals in a comprehensive manner across the federal enterprise.

  • Healthcare ID and Biometric Technology: Following recent government efforts, the conference features an expanded agenda for the healthcare sector. Smart health identity cards provide a privacy-sensitive, secure solution with significant benefits to healthcare providers. Conference sessions will reflect and amplify the industry-leading work of the Smart Card Alliance Health and Human Services and Identity Councils. This year's conference also features an expanded look at biometric security solutions.

  • Mobile Credentials Storage and Security Use Cases: The extension of existing identity credentials and developments for new credentialing programs for use with mobile devices is reshaping how security professionals view the marketplace. Conference sessions will provide insight into evolving mobile ecosystem and usage models for mobile security solutions.

In addition to the main program, the Smart Card Alliance is holding workshops and training programs on June 8th, prior to the conference. For more information on the preconference and conference agendas, visit http://www.GovSmartID.com/conference-agenda/.
