The Lodge at Woodloch to Unveil a Custom Labyrinth Memorial Day Weekend

Award-winning destination spa adds to the natural beauty surrounding the property with a Lotus Labyrinth

HAWLEY, Pa., May 11, 2015 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Long anticipated by the team and guests at The Lodge at Woodloch, Memorial Day weekend will be a time of celebration and meditation. The new custom designed Labyrinth will be unveiled during a series of workshops with the famed Veriditas Organization. The gears have been moving at The Lodge at Woodloch for over a year to make this unveiling possible. The new custom Labyrinth will offer new programming and a serene location for meditation and relaxation hugged by the arms of the forest. Uniquely designed by Katja Marquart, Associate Dean & Head of Interior Architecture at the University of Wisconsin, the Labyrinth features a lotus flower at the entrance and exit of the Labyrinth, 9 circuits and a surface area of over 1,589 square feet. The Lodge sourced the perfect craftsman, Mark Bell of Rock Solid Landscaping to carefully lie each stone. Finally, the team hand selected and sourced paver stones that would compliment and not detract from the nature-inspired design of the building and grounds.

What is a Labyrinth?  According to Veriditas: "The labyrinth is a walking meditation, a path of prayer and an archetypal blueprint where psyche meets Spirit. It has only one path that leads from the outer edge in a circuitous way to the center. There are no tricks to it and no dead ends. Unlike a maze where you lose your way, the labyrinth is a spiritual tool that can help you find your way."

The series of workshops are open to the public and guests alike.  There will be a one-day workshop that is open to members of the community, guests and followers of Verditas.  Attendees can choose to attend this workshop (either half day or full day) as an introduction to Labyrinths.  Alternatively, if one would like a more in depth experience and to walk away with a certification, attendees can choose to attend the three-day workshop with Veriditas Master Teacher, Jo Ann Mast at the helm.
