Welcome Hall Mission CEO/Executive Director Cyril Morgan is happy to announce $20,000 in new funding from TELUS. The TELUS Montreal Community Board has made the donation to help finance an innovative micro-enterprise project within the mission's Youth Services.

"We serve two unique client groups at our Beaudry St. location - street youth and young, at-risk mothers," says Morgan. "The pregnant women need access to healthy, nutritious meals and the youth need support in their search for employment; the micro-enterprise project will address both of these crucial areas."

Project participants will produce and distribute healthy, ready-made meals to at-risk pregnant women and young mothers. Youth will learn how to plan, produce and distribute the meals, gaining marketable skills that will be invaluable in their job search. The pilot project will last for ten months, during which participants will learn how to prepare meals, design packaging and promote the program.

TELUS' donation will be put toward the purchase of a refrigerator, kitchen utensils and fresh food for the duration of the project, ensuring that participants will be well cared for.

Welcome Hall Mission's Youth Services offers counselling services to assist street youth in finding employment and housing, returning to school, and developing life skills; evening meals are served five days per week. In 2014, over 400 youth accessed the services for the first time; of these, almost twenty-five percent were at-risk mothers.

The TELUS team is committed to making a positive difference and building stronger and sustainable communities. Its team members and retirees are passionate about giving back to communities and embracing the philosophy to give where we live. Last year, TELUS donated more than $2.8 million to support more than 110 organizations in the Greater Montreal area.

Welcome Hall Mission helps Montreal's most disadvantaged through its multiple services which provide constant, effective assistance to tens of thousands of men, women, children and teenagers. Across all programs, the common denominator is its commitment to supporting and giving hope to the most disadvantaged through concrete actions and effective solutions to build a better life and reintegrate into society.
