Giving Canadians Access to Information in Both Official Languages

Government of Canada supports the Polycystic Kidney Disease Foundation of Canada

ETOBICOKE, ONTARIO--(Marketwired - May 19, 2015) - Department of Canadian Heritage

Canadians will be able to consult information in both official languages on the website of the Polycystic Kidney Disease Foundation of Canada, thanks to $5,000 in financial support from the Government of Canada. This will provide French-speaking patients, their families and healthcare specialists with information on polycystic kidney disease, research results and details of meetings to discuss the disease.

The Foundation is also hoping that translation will help recruit French-speaking volunteers for its Montréal chapter, created in 2014. Bernard Trottier, Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister of Foreign Affairs and for La Francophonie and Member of Parliament (Etobicoke-Lakeshore), made the announcement today on behalf of the Honourable Shelly Glover, Minister of Canadian Heritage and Official Languages.

Fast facts

  • The number of Canadians with French as their first official language spoken was nearly 7.3 million in 2011.
